Today, EMC announced the upcoming release of version 9.3 of their Service Assurance Suite.
The Service Assurance Suite assists with monitoring, root-cause analysis and management of solutions in the data center.
Service Assurance Suite Origins
Service Assurance is a prime example demonstrating the success of EMC’s acquisition program. Service Assurance is built upon the intellectual property from three different software aquisitions:
- SMARTS
- Network Configuration Manager (from Voyence)
- Watch4Net
EMC has combined the functionality of these three software packages into one suite who’s total is more than the sum of its parts.
Integration with VMware NSX
Version 9.3 adds the ability to manage VMware’s software-defined network product, NSX.
This integration with NSX allows for complete virtual-to-physical network mapping, and helps with fault correlation and root-cause analysis.
Improved Interface
Version 9.3 of Service Assurance includes a redesign of the user interface. The new interface is consistent with the look-and-feel of the ViPR and Storage Resource Management (SRM) Suite interfaces, simplifying management.
Additionally, the new interface simplifies common tasks, and adds role-based access controls.
Availability
Service Assurance Suite 9.3 is due to GA before the end of Q2.
